Facebook Pages now come in Verified Accounts

June 26, 2013May 30, 2013 by Nik Kingsman
Facebook - Verified Pages

Facebook - Verified PagesFacebook Pages – Verified Accounts

Facebook launched a new service today (Wednesday in the United States), similar to what Twitter did, with verified pages. So rest assured, when you LIKE an official page that’s verified, it is who it says it is. If you are liking Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga or even Barack Obama, it really is them!

Facebook verified check-markIf a page is verified, it will display a little blue tick next to the page name, it also displays in the Facebook search engine AND where ever they post on Facebook.
Don’t get too excited, it is only provided to a select few, like celebrities, high-profile figures, bands etc.

Want more information on Verified Pages? Visit the Facebook Newsroom at http://newsroom.fb.com/News/619/Verified-Pages-and-Profiles

I didn’t know that was on my Facebook wall, Thanks SimpleWash

June 26, 2013February 8, 2013 by Nik Kingsman
SimpleWash - Formally known as FaceWash

SimpleWash - Formally known as FaceWashHave you ever taken your mobile phone to a party, had a few drinks and then scrolled through your Facebook wall the next day? Been irate and posted something which you shouldn’t have? Or just plain old swearing a lot in your status updates? Im sure we have all been there!

SimpleWash (formally known as FaceWash) is a great service to scan through your Facebook wall looking for all that dirty talk and highlights what could be considered offensive to others, as you know, Facebook is the first place people look to find out more about you.

To use SimpleWash head over to http://simplewa.sh/ and log in with your Facebook account, accept and install the Facebook app. Once installed, click the “Start” button (top left) It will then start scanning and within a minute it will highlight what needs attention. Once it has found the offending content, you can simply click on the page link, go straight to the offending content and either Delete the post/photo or change the “share with” drop-down to either Public, Friends or Hide it from everyone and use Only Me. It will highlight posts which contain offensive words, also the words like BEER and even XX if you have signed off with a kiss.

I hear a whisper though, SimpleWash is also coming to Twitter, so stay tuned for that.

Give it a try, it certainly does come in handy….and keep up to date with their announcements by following them on Facebook and Twitter.

Mark Zuckerberg announces update on Facebook app for iPhone and iPad

So it has been some time since an update has occurred for the Facebook app on iPhone & iPad and as I wake, I find a message from Mark Zuckerberg announcing that it’s here. Stating that the app has been rewritten from the ground up and tackles some long time annoyances like speed saying “its a big step forward”.

Things like scrolling through your news feed is a lot quicker, new banners lets you tap to see more stories – there is no more need to refresh the page anymore, photos open faster, photo’s also close with a downward swipe and you get instant access to your notifications.

If you haven’t updated it… Jump over to the app store on your iPhone or iPad and hit that update button now!

Google+ vs Facebook Infographic

June 26, 2013July 31, 2012 by Nik Kingsman
Google+ vs Facebook Infographic

Here are some interesting comparisons between Google+ and Facebook as seen in the infographic by http://pardot.com.

I know myself I use Facebook a lot more over Google+ for one reason only, i forget that Google+ is there! I suppose I just need to train and remind myself it is there and to share the love. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t see anything wrong with Google+, I just forget – just call me Dory (from Finding Nemo).

What is your take on Google+, do you use it more or less than Facebook, if at all?
