I didn’t know that was on my Facebook wall, Thanks SimpleWash

SimpleWash - Formally known as FaceWash

SimpleWash - Formally known as FaceWashHave you ever taken your mobile phone to a party, had a few drinks and then scrolled through your Facebook wall the next day? Been irate and posted something which you shouldn’t have? Or just plain old swearing a lot in your status updates? Im sure we have all been there!

SimpleWash (formally known as FaceWash) is a great service to scan through your Facebook wall looking for all that dirty talk and highlights what could be considered offensive to others, as you know, Facebook is the first place people look to find out more about you.

To use SimpleWash head over to http://simplewa.sh/ and log in with your Facebook account, accept and install the Facebook app. Once installed, click the “Start” button (top left) It will then start scanning and within a minute it will highlight what needs attention. Once it has found the offending content, you can simply click on the page link, go straight to the offending content and either Delete the post/photo or change the “share with” drop-down to either Public, Friends or Hide it from everyone and use Only Me. It will highlight posts which contain offensive words, also the words like BEER and even XX if you have signed off with a kiss.

I hear a whisper though, SimpleWash is also coming to Twitter, so stay tuned for that.

Give it a try, it certainly does come in handy….and keep up to date with their announcements by following them on Facebook and Twitter.

What is SoundGecko?

June 26, 2013August 4, 2012 by Nik Kingsman
SoundGecko // WhichSocialMedia.com
SoundGecko // WhichSocialMedia.com

What is SoundGecko?

SoundGecko (www.SoundGecko.com) is a new app for the iPhone, it takes any website and converts the text to speech. It’s a great app for when you are out walking or driving to work and you don’t want to read a lot of text, so why not convert it to speech!

You can convert the website text to speech in two easy ways. Email the Link or use the Chrome Applet, Heres how to convert it:

Email the link:

  • Locate the webpage you are wanting to read,
  • Copy the URL (web address – e.g. www.domain-name.com/page.html) into a new email,
  • Email the URL to go@soundgecko.com,
  • Open the SoundGecko app on your iPhone,
  • Select the document you want to listen to and just press play!

Use the Chrome Applet

SoundGecko Applet // WhichSocialMedia.com

  • Locate the webpage you are wanting to read,
  • Click the SoundGecko Applet,
  • Open the SoundGecko app on your iPhone,
  • Select the document you want to listen to and just press play!

You can also link your DropBox or Google Drive account to SoundGecko.

Email receipts can be sent to you to confirm your recordings, these will be sent to the account which you have signed up with. You can turn this service on or off within the preferences tab on the SoundGecko website.

SoundGecko does a really great job at encoding text to speech and sounds quiet natural too.

From reading the SoundGecko website, the service is currently free at the moment but they are developing more functions and later on, this will turn into a paid service. Even if it was a paid service, i would look at paying for it. I wish i had something which was this easy for me to use when i was at university, all those websites i had to read over and over to study for exams, this site would have come in handy. Now, i am always surfing the net as part of my job, this is going to make my job a lot easier!

Check SoundGecko out at www.soundgecko.com

*** UPDATE: 5th August, 2012 ***

  • CHANGED: When re-opening the app after inactivity, we now only refresh if its been an hour or longer (instead of 5 minutes). You can “pull to refresh” the table to reload immediately.

  • CHANGED: Cache link icons across application restarts
